Dear Friends,
Hearts of Hope / "The Mom Squad" is a
registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization advocating for
drug free communities by educating the public on drug
addiction's social and financial impact on individuals,
families and communities. We are mostly the parents of drug
addicted children. We have been slapped in the face with the
reality that our kids have stumbled in life and now face the
prospect of losing theirs if we do not take the right action.
We have come together to educate ourselves and our communities
and have forged the path that leads from desperation and
denial to positive action and hope. We have worked hard to
raise awareness of the epidemic level that this scourge has
reached right here in the Fox Valley. We support those in need
with prayer group fellowship and counseling. We are “standing
in the gap” for the victims and their families.
Hearts of Hope has no funding, no paid
employees, and no expense accounts. We rely on our
participating volunteers to donate their time and resources to
get the work done. We do it out of desperation with the
feeling that there is no other choice in the matter. We rely
on our great faith, the power of our prayers, and your
generosity. And that has allowed us to make an impact in our
communities.
In the past we have traveled to Washington DC
with drug court and county personnel in an effort to obtain
additional Federal funding for the drug court program. We have
traveled to New York City to participate in meetings with the
Partnership for a Drug Free America who has Comcast as a
strategic partner. We were blessed with a generous donation of
office space by the Shodeen Corporation. We produce the drug
court graduation program where this year 70 graduates
celebrated their successful completion of the court’s
rehabilitation program. I spoke again this year and again
said, “Thank God for Lea Minalga”. Lea founded Hearts of Hope
and has helped me help save my son’s life. Throughout the year
Hearts of Hope works every day running support groups, grief
groups, prayer groups, and jail ministry. We are embarking on
two major projects for the coming year. One, which educates
kids at the fifth grade level called Positive Action, and
another for parents called “Drug Proofing Your Kids”.
Hearts of Hope needs your support and
financial assistance. We call upon you at this time and ask
that you join us and contribute all that you can, and fill
your heart with hope that we may salvage more lives from the
desperation and hopelessness of addiction.
